Jimmy Zhu is a senior VFX editor and DI finishing editor currently based in London. A born creator and film fanatic, Jimmy is dedicated to his craft and is always on the hunt for new technology to expand his creative boundaries.
Originally from Shanghai, Jimmy’s career has taken him all over the globe in just nine years. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Motion Pictures & Television from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, Jimmy began working on notable projects across several post houses in Los Angeles. In 2019, Jimmy relocated to Sydney to work on Peter Rabbit 2 at Animal Logic. Following the project's completion, he made his way to Stockholm, where he was welcomed by Goodbye Kansas Studios as a technical VFX editor/colourist. In 2022, he joined Scanline VFX in London as a senior VFX editor.
Jimmy’s philosophy is to use technology to enhance creativity. He is highly skilled in Avid Media Composer, Baselight, DaVinci Resolve, Nuke Studio, and other toolsets. Furthermore, he specialises in the ACES colour pipeline and scripting for automation.
In addition to his professional achievements, Jimmy is a voting member of BAFTA, the Television Academy (Emmys), the Hollywood Professional Association (HPA), and the Visual Effects Society (VES). He also serves as the co-treasurer of the VES London Board, further showcasing his commitment to and recognition within the industry.
Jimmy is also a skilled photographer. He captures unguarded moments and emotions on the street, making for powerful storytelling. His photography work has been featured at the Australia Centre for Photography.
Other notable credits include ‘DC Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’, ‘Star Wars: Andor’ and BAFTA award-winning game ‘Horizon Forbidden West’.
